This will probably be the heaviest day, since its day 2. While heavy, its not uncontrollable. Doctors define "hemorrhaging" as bleeding that soaks a super pad or tampon in 1/2 hour. Your bleeding should abate possibly by tomorrow.
Heavy periods are an unfortunate situation. You should see your doctor and maybe consider getting put on the pill to lighten and regulate your cycle.

I wouldn't worry yet!! It may seem like a lot of blood, but in reality it is probably less then a table spoon!!! If you are still bleeding this bad by tonight or tomorrow morning, call your doc. But I have heavy periods occasionally too and they only last a couple days and then for that cycle my period is over!!
Sometimes I believe IB profin helps, but I'm not a doc so not sure!!

ibuprofen can actually promote bleeding so if you are not having too terrible of cramps I'd back off on it for a day or so. and now you should drink plenty of fluids and take some good vitamins. you are probably okay, but just to be sure you should call a nurse or med info line at your local hospital....just talking to your doctor or a medical professional would be a good idea if you are really afraid....it may ease your mind.
Hang in there, my wife has had the same problem a few times but she is okay in a couple days.

How OLD are you? If you are in your 40s or 50s then this is TOTALLY NORMAL, and you are in 'perimenopause' ... and welcome to the 'Black pants club'! If you are younger than 40, though, I would make an appointment with my GYNECOLOGIST and tell him/her about this 'seriously heavy period' and ask for help. It may be 'nothing' and you'll just have to 'ride it out' but it may be something that needs treatment ... so LISTEN and if necessary get a consultation ...
