Hi,
I am 14 weeks pregnant this week and since 5 weeks into my pregnancy I have been suffering from bleeding, The bleeding is not continual but has happened 4 times now.
The first 3 times it happened it was as a brownish red discharge but the 4th time it was very heavy like a full blown period.

I have been to the Dr one one occasion and found her really rude, she commented that she doubted she would be able to hear the heartbeat as there was ' a lot of me' (I am size 20). The heart beat was found and was strong

On the other 3 times I have been to the hospital and had scans which have shown that baby seems to be oblivios to all the goings on.

I have asked time and again what could be causing this but I have been told each time that it is something that happens.

I am sick with worry and I dread going to the toilet and seeing more blood. I have tried over and over again to get help but no one seems to be willing to do anything more for me what do I do now?

Sounds like you need a new doctor!

Occasional bleeding is ok, but you never know.

When I advised my doctor of bleeding, she made an appmnt with me the very next day & did a internal exam & also checked the baby's heartbeat.

Your still early in your pregnancy - like I said, I think u should consider getting a new doctor who you feel more comfortable with.

Oh my goodness you poor thing. Firstly I cannot believe that she would blaintantly insult you like that regarding your size, just who does she think she is? Also I have bled once and that made me panic like hell so can only imagine how you must be feeling after 4 bleeds. I have no idea what your bleeding can be but you have EVERY right to insist that they look into this because, although im sure its not, there are certain things that would make you bleed that could be quite serious. On the upside I guess if the scans show that all is well with the baby then this must be reassuring but no doubt your concerns are always going to be when will I bleed again. Id really be inclined to change the Doctor who you are seeing.....or at the very least report her for her comment. Not sure what else to suggest but I wish you the very best of luck for the pregnancy and sincerely hope that you find another GP who is more supportive. Take care x

I found that out, i was having brown discharge when i was about 8 weeks for about 2 weeks. Im now almost 16 weeks.(Didnt have none of it with my two other children.) The doctors were not helpful at all i was really worried and wanted an early scan but they would not give me one. The doctor then said if its going to happen it will. (a misscarrage) so I just got on with it then. I think you'l be fine especially as youv had numours scans. Some bleed all the way through. You might have a little infection, thats what i had they told me. Any way good luck ul be fine.

Once u hear the heartbeat the risk for miscarriage goes down to only like a 5% chance, once u hit the 12 week mark the risk for miscarriage goes down to 2%,,u are considered in the sae range although bleeding is never really normal..I suggest u see a new doctor and get more tests done..Did they place u on bedrest?

I was 6 weeks when i started bleeding,it happen constantly for 2 weeks straight and never stopped...They did heartbeat on ultrasound, tests etc and everything looked ok..i was placed on bedrest and i stayed there for 2 weeks,i didnt clean,cook,nothing..i would lay on the couch and watch t.v,take a shower and help my husband at times take care of the kids..The bleeding stopped completely after the 2 week bedrest and now im 3 months and havent noticed any blood since 8 weeks...I suggest u go onto bedrest if the doctor didnt tell u to..It helps alot..and no sex whatsoever..try to be in bed as much as possible. just take it easy right now for your baby...he/she is obviously alive and doing well so try not to stress to much,i know its hard but im sure the bleeding will stop and your baby will be fine..Good Luck!

I'm so sorry you are going through this. Have you considered finding a new Dr? I do know that bleeding does occur without a known cause. There is no reason to be rude though. That crosses a line. I wish you the best of luck and a happy healthy pregnancy and baby.

Bleeding in pregnancy can have several causes. 1. Partial placental seperation which is usually but not always seen on scan. 2. The cervix (neck of the womb) is very vascular in pregnancy as is the reproductive tract and sometimes bleeds for no reason. 3. Sometimes intercourse can cause bleeding in pregnancy due to 2 as it causes slight trauma. 4. Cell changes to the cervix during pregnancy sometimes means that it bleeds easier and can be due to (but not always) a previous abnormal smear history. NOTE its very sad when you hear stories of Doctors that have little consideration for patients feelings and you have wonder why they choose to practise medicine.

oh do i know about the "large maternal mass" dr's seem to hate so much! i was a size 20 when i fell pregnant.. dont take any rubbish from them.. tell them u want a scan to check everything is ok! does ur authority not do a 10-14 week scan? when i bled i self reffered myself to the early pregnancy unit at my local hospital.. do u have one of those cos u can just go there!!
u need to get it checked.. good luck and dotn take no poop! u maybe big but u far from the first large lady to have a baby.. they know how to deal with us "fatties" :)

when i had bleeding in week 6 i thought i was going to have a miscarriage without a doubt, but the more i talked about it to friends and family the more i realised that a lot of women do experience this in pregnancy, and a lot of them had bleeding throughout, as long as its not very heavy and you haven't got cramps i wouldn't panic to much. your past the crucial stage so im sure everything will be fine. good luck x

is the bleeding roughly at the time your period would have been? I had a bleed once a month right through my pregnancies but they were very mild. Don't let the bad attitude of your doctor put you off going back if you are worried though, better to put your mind at rest. And I agree change your doc to one who will be supportive to your worries

GET A NEW OB!!! It's insane for a doctor to treat a pregnant woman, or anyone else, like that.

More importantly, your OB needs to be someone you are comfortable with, and you are obviously NOT comfortable with this doctor. Go to a new doctor ASAP, and tell them your concerns.

Good luck!
