The best way to work with this person would be to listen to what they are saying ( take notes,) do not take a pre conceived idea of what they are saying listen well.
and go over every thing they have to offer . choose the best idea's and make it known what your concerns are, but before you do this make sure they are willing to listen to your idea's after . be open minded to every word they say even if you have to jam in down your throat.
in a good working relationship everyone has their own idea, and everyone one wants respect for their thoughts suggest they do the same. in order to have a good conversation one must speak and the other must listen.

Patience and determination... It will take a lot out of you but in the end it will benefit the both of you and it will also help you in future circumstances so don't be afraid to take on the responsibility unless you are doubtful of yourself and are without confidence.
