how does this work as ive just asked a question and some i though were good answers but they have already got a thumbs up1 or a thumbs up down 3 who does the numbers next to it anyone know as ive only joined last night as some were good points about ques????

anybody can give ratings on answers, most people give thumbs down to anybody who disagrees with them or has a different opinion. If you asked the question that you can choose the best answer and the other ratings don't really matter. If you don't choose a best answer, those ratings still don't really matter because it will go into voting, and those are used to decide the best answer. If you get the best answer, you get 10 points, if you choose the best answer, you get 3 points, and if you vote for the best answer, you get 2 points. I hope that answered your question.

If 1 person gave you a thumbs up, you'll see a 1 by it. If 3 people thought it was a bad answer and hit the down button, you'll see a 3 next to it.

If it gets a thumbs up and a 3 it means 3 people voted thumbs up.
And some people just go round clicking thumbs down for the hell of it, or because they don't like that person - so you can pretty much ignore it!
You vote thumbs up or down by clicking on the button.

Users themselves give thumbs up or down depending on wheter they agree/approve/recommend the answer or question. Once you get to level 2 of answers you can give thumbs up and down. Meantime you just have to read and bear the ratings you get.

Anyone can click on the thumbs up or thumbs down icon and it will add the rating.

You have to get to level 2 to lazily express you opinion with thumbs. I prefer to just add to what i said but it seems most cant be bothered

other users vote thumbs up or down for answers, some give thumbs down just for kicks or bcoz the answer is better than theirs and they were too thick to think of it, ask you questions and read the answers for yourself and take from them what u find useful, its all down to you
