yes i have visited it and it is very beautiful.
unfortunately i booked a one day tour from delhi and that was a mistake. since the tour included visits of other places also it was a big rush and very less time for the taj. it was very crowded also and it had a long waiting line for the (expensive) tickets.
eventhough everybody complains about agra hotels i guess it would be good to stay there overnight so you can take your time.
did you know that in aurangabad there is the taj mahal of the poor? of course it is not as big and as glamerous as the one in agra but it has a very peaceful and nice atmosphere.

The first time that i was going to see the Taj, i was wondering what the fuss was all about and it was pretty and everything but well... there are other pretty monuments in the world too. And anyway having seen so many pictures of the Taj throughout my life, I wasn't expecting to see anything which would surprise me. But i was wrong. If you haven't been there already then i suggest you do. This is coming from a cynic so you might as well trust me on this.
About whether it should be part of the wonders or not, I don't know. All i can say is that it is definitely an awesome piece of architecture.

Taj is symbol of immortal love of Shahjahan.
A love memory in marble.
A great architecture of Mughal era.
The Red stones of Akbar time become white in the period of last mughals.
An isolated king was kept in Lal quila of Agra,He saw Taj from prison till his death.

i hv grown up in agra.....hardly 2 miles from the TAj...visited it countless number of times.....it is worth visiting.....but there is a dark side......
agra is a tourist place but managment is not up to mark...be prepared for sm bad experiences if u r visiting agra.....
make sure of the timings of the historical monuments.....as 10Rs ticket sells for 500 bucks during some day hrs.....confirm tht.....and may be some week day it is closed also....
these rules keep changing.....

Taj Mahal is now on a new path of history some research has revealled that its not the burial place of mumtaj actually its a shiv temple since there are many reasons to beleive that such as from arab to afganistan no muslim country say that a burial place can never be named as mahal not just that the actuall name of mumtaj mahal is mumtaj e tamhaye................
