In this movie, was Ninny (the elderly lady) Idgie grown up? I have loved this movie since I was a little girl and have often wondered this. My mother says yes, but I don't know.

I actually did go to where it was filmed. Was it Julienne or Juliette, in Georgia? It was so awesome to be where the movie was filmed. I even got to eat at the Whistle Stop Cafe! That was neat. I got post cards with the actors pictures on them. I loved Smokey Lonesome's shack. I don't know if that is the same one as in the movie, but irregardless, it was great.

No, she isn't, although we want her to be, don't we? She states in the movie who she is and her relation to everyone. It's just said so fast that it doesn't register. I don't remember exactly but she does say that she had a son, a developmentally delayed son that survived until he was about thirty and then "the Good Lord took him."

I must confess that I've stolen a line or two from that movie. I've said, "I'm older and have better insurance" so often that my kids actually use it, too. That and "Tawanda" which I use whenever I need a warrior call.

Thank you for asking about "Fried Green Tomatoes". It's a movie that makes me feel more real, happier that I'm alive and somehow part of a secret, unofficial club of smart, strong, flawed women. Maybe, I'll make ribs for dinner tonight. (The secret is in the sauce, so I've heard.)

Fried Green Tomatoes - Ninny is Idgie. We find that out when she goes back to the Whistle Stop Cafe and visits the grave of her friend (I forget the character's name, but she was played by Mary Louise Parker)

No, remember how when she was describing Idgie's brother, how she said she was in love with him? Well, that obviously means that it wasnt her own brother. And at the end, there is honey and flowers on Ruth's grave. The old lady had been in a nursing home the whole time, so how would she have put them there?

No, she was Idgie's sister. This was mentioned in the film but was made quite clear in the book.

We, as viewers were led to believe that, but the movie or Fannie Flagg never admitted it. Great movie.
