Just give me your ideas for a great luau. It will be indoors because of Michigan weather. I want to recreate a little Hawai'i here in this frozen wasteland, a mini escape. I'm even looking into ABC store franchising as a gift shop portion in the restaurant.

To worry about failure is a waste of my time, if I am going to put any effort forth, it will be of a positive nature. Thank you for your thoughts everyone.

If money is no object, try a huge room (dining area, possibly a seperated kitchen area or servers area, but preferably not ) to include a reception area and seperate restrooms, and a large area to put the pig in the ground. You will need to dig far into the permafrost and refill it with Hawaiian sand. There must be seating times of course, so your customers can see the whole pig coming out of the ground, and it needs to be a buffet style restaurant. It may need to be a dinner and show type place with a stage and hula dancers and fire jugglers and eaters to perform after the meal. A living, tall, coconut bearing palm tree that a native could climb to retrieve a coconut and give to a lucky patron at the end of the show would be awesome, too.

oh, i went to this old diner one time called 'johnny rockets' and every now and then, they would have old 50's music play on the speakers, and all the waiters and stuff would jump up on the table and dance with tacky 50's coreography...you should do something like that w/ ure resturant...(like hula dancers) only, dont make them get up on the tables, just on the floor..dont want a reputation as a strip joint resuraunt...

Please keep in mind that most restaurants fail within the first year.

Other than that, you might want to poll people in the community to see if they WANT a luau-themed restaurant.
