It's hard to say, even with taking showers.
I been told that it is what we eat that creates certain odors. I had a friend who liked to eat kim-chee, (pickled cabbage). She did smell like one too. I asked a doctor friend and he said that to buy her a bottle of that body mints which works from the inside, I did. and after about a week she didn't have the odor....

You are a good friend and this is a good friends' type of question.
Ps: sometimes they may not know about the odor because it's to familiar. I am glad it's you who will tell her and not some stranger who would care about her feelings...

She could have hyperhydrosis(excess sweating)
she could try Mitchum deodorant. She can also try body powder ( shower to shower) it works quite well.
Some people who eat certain foods in large amounts such as curry , garlic, sometimes sweat it out of their pores and have an odor.
If it is from urine, then she might have a weak bladder and needs to use a feminine deodorant and panty liners.
If it is a feminine odor, then she needs to change her pads or tampax more often. Maybe she needs to change her underwear more often and wear panty liners.
It could also be an underlying yeast infection in which case she can get a Rx for Canesten cream from her doc to treat it.
Broach the subject with her one on one and ask her if she realizes she has an odor. If she is distraught about it encourage her to go and see someone to have it checked out. If she is unaware tell her nicely...but tell her.....
There could be so many possibilities here.

There are medical conditions that cause people to have odor despite their best efforts. The foods a person eats affects their body odor as well. It's probably something she should talk to a doctor about, especially if it's hindering her.
