what are some better programs out there that will look at the top 10 sites for any given keyword and compare them to your site so you can make changes based off of what they have?
i have ibp but is there anything else?
something that will tell you to add a longer title get a higher density move the keyword to a different position stuff like that??

Nothing beyond/except ipb known to me, but the firefox extension from 1.) and some other tools shown there are sometimes useful.

Do you think shortening or lengthening your title, changing the keyword density or moving keywords around will make a positive difference?

If you do then think again. There is a lot of snake oil out there and it sounds as if you are about to swallow a whole bottle of it!

SEO can never be done well programmatically and this is why the better SEOs never use the sort of software you see advertised everywhere on the net. Of course they use software to gain information but they use their experience and knowledge to apply it.

If you are serious about SEO learn the how and more importantly the why from an established expert. Beware the SEO wannabes there are tens of thousands of them :)
