I've been writing poetry for my own pleasure for years and I also love reading poetry that affects me in some way.

My favourite poet overall is TS Eliot ('The Love Song of J.Prufrock' is very moving - a man talking about his wasted, empty life), also Thomas Hardy (yes, the novelist - he wrote 1,000 poems and wanted to be remembered as a poet - very good stuff) and Robert Frost ('Birches', 'Stone Walls' and my favourite - 'Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening.').

How refreshing to have someone on Yahoo who has some cultured interests!

I like writing poetry as it helps me. I usually write about my problems and stuff, but not so much the social issues and daily life, as many others do. I'm a creative person, and its another way to express my feelings! Just because you have an interest in poetry, doesnt always have to mean you were born with a silver spoon in your mouth!! I love writing in general, I think its a shame for those who don't see it the same way, but.... not everyones the same! Maybe i'm just wierd.... :P

I like writing poetry...doesn't matter if you're born with a silver spoon in your mouth. But i could generalize and say that i like poets like Pam Ayres, who just relay the life of an everyday nobody...

If it is web page between the radical, i doesn't hardship too a lot about what Persi calls "thoughts unload". a lot of excellent writers get the nature time-honored on the starting up this type. although, you shouldn't tell each little thing suddenly (appears like i'm contradicting myself, eh?) yet go away adequate for later so the reader can get to understand all about him steadily. You prose has a good voice. in the experience that your type remains coming up, through the time you end it will be distinct. if so, you would attempt banging out the finished novel with out nit-choosing the modifying alongside the way, and sparkling it up later once you've settled into an appropriate narrative voice. common, it is truly very good.

I am curious as to why a silver spoon in ones gob enables one to write better poetry.

Yes I do. And some of them I am very proud of. It can be very therapeutic in fact. When my pets die I will always write a poem for them. Sometimes it helps to put things into words

Looks like you need to get to a poetry reading. Find one in your area. If you can't find one, find a coffee shop and organize your own.
