I personally think the academy chose the wrong movies to be nominated for best picture.i was surprised that dream girls and pursuit of happiness did not get a nom.

I agree. I think the academy always forgets about the movies from Jan-Sept for all the categories. They always seem to just nominate the movies from the last few months of the year. They also seem to go out of their way to nominate minorities for the acting categories. That is fine, but I think that the best performances and movies should be nominated. Regardless of the race of the people being nominated. And also, I think that they should not have movies competing against each other. I mean come on! Three song from Dreamgirls? Surely there must be songs from other movies that deserve to be nominated? But I still enjoy the Oscars despite all of the academy's flaws.

I assume Daniel Day-Lewis will beat Depp. greatest omission: Jonny Greenwood's score for "there will be Blood". The Oscars are constantly properly at the back of the curve on creativity and originality. greatest annoyance: 3 pre-fab Disney tunes interior the superb music catagory. Spare me.
