Something is wrong here and I KNOW it's not me. This question was posted earlier :
Why are victims of murder usually women?
Does anyone have an explanation
http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AntgoLuukNr.lIusnLchnjAYxgt.?qid=20070122234057AAijamu
Am I misunderstanding this question in some way? It is asking why women are usually,ie most commonly, victims of murder and an explanation as to why this is the case.........right?
Firstly, nowhere in that question was there any mention of men being the perpretrator. Secondly and most importantly, IT"S NOT TRUE! The facts are a few clicks away.
Of all homicides in the United States from 1976-2004, 76.5% of the victims were male.
Male and female perpetrators are more likely to target male victims as opposed to female victims.
In 2004 men were FOUR times more likely to be victims than women.
The rates for women reached their lowest recorded point in 2004 and it was a decreasing trend.

Now if you look at the answers given to that original question it's mindblowing!!
People, men and women, immediately described WHY women are usually the victims. They pointed out how aggressive men are and how vulnerable females are. They bleated on repeatedly about what VICTIMS women are and how men are so violent towards them because they can be.
The facts are there, this isn't what's happening! Women are NOT usually the victims of murder so no explanation can be given to the original asker as to why they are. Is noone else even mildly disturbed to see how people are thinking today? Cant anyone else see the injustice this does to both men and women and how damaging this mentality is to us ALL?? When oh when will women get off of the imaginary victim list and deal in reality? How are we supposd to progess as people when we are basing so much of our impression of the opposite sex on completely unfounded lies, misconceptions and deceptions!!!
Karma.

OK, I'm back. I believe its a very serious problem within society and it's your right to disagree on the seriousness but it's letting yourselves down to be so passive in the face of injustice in my opinion. This one question I highlighted was an example of a mass way of thinking. Too many sheep and follwers, which is once again borne out by the repetiveness of answers here following the first answers recomendation I chill out.
For the record I am pretty chilly and I will tell you all why.........I dont have to live there for one and two, I have taken one of your overlooked kind, caring, incredibly strong, intelligent, empathic, confident, decisive, funny, handsome, healthy and wonderfully manly American men and appreciate, respect, love, adore, cherish and worship him as the MAN he is.
I'm chilled because I'm not afraid that every man I see will turn into the bogeyman and attack me, rape me, or kill me. I'm chilled because I am a woman and not afraid to be so.
TY, all
Karma.

The truth is, its become a pro women society. The media talks about breast cancer as if it is the leading cause of death in society. It isn't. A majority of Magazines have a picture of a woman on them. At the same time that are always making women to be the victim, all kinds of TV shows routinely show a super women beating up a man as if all it takes is a tai bow class. Go figure.

I saw this question, and wondered about it, too. And yes, the responses were strange, as well. Maybe the "asker" meant women are more often the victims of intimate murder (murdered by spouses or significant others) which is true...30% for women, 5% for men. The question seemed uninformed, at any rate. But I have no idea what was going on with some of those that answered. It did seem that they were simply taking what the asker was saying for face value, though, and this has to be because of social biases that say men are more prone to violence and women more likely to be victims.

First off, as more than one person has said, chill. The guy who asked it is maybe mistaken. He didn't say anything offending. So, you've seen that other people have the same opinion about this. So what? Swearing never freed one from their ignorance.
Secondly: Can you actually say that it's ignorance? So, statistics, one out of many, say that men are murdered more often than women. I don't think it's proof.
Last, people have the right not to belive statistics, besides, most haven't ever read them, and the way the person asks it, he seems to be sure about it, so that made people think it was that way and the person knew what he was talking about. As an intelligent person, which you seem to be, you should know better than to directly insult them because of this. If they insult you, let them eat **** and die.

What you're missing is that you are taking it too seriously, and you are forgetting the fact that a lot of people presume that if they read it on the internet it must be true. (It used to be the tabloid press, but now you don't even have to be a journalist or even able to spell to have people believing anything you choose to tell them.)
So people see the question and they go "Oooh, look at that... women are usually the victims of murder... " and answer as best they can. Never does it occur to a lot of people to check whether or not it's true in the first place. But thanks for setting us straight.

I believe your Karma is disturbed. Have not seen the original question. Perhaps the really disturbing part of this whole thiing is that you don't seem to want being treated like a lady? Are you aware, acting like a lady will get you things you would never be able to achieve by acting like an agressive male. I have trouble understanding why women have stopped being ladies. Must be the baby boomers that grew up in the 70['s. There are so many other things to worry about other than some stupid statistics that we all know are not true huh? Get some sleep my dear. Stress kills people.

Unfortunately seems to me that never...Why?Because we are so blinded and easy believers ,we believe in what others believe too ,what has always been so...And that is men are stronger and aggressive and violent and women are weak,depressive,victims...Its a stupid thing though, but no one will look outside the box...Just how many men are not like that and women too of course...So my advice is that men who are like ones described practice safe control more and women who are like those described get some grip,it will do you only good :)
P.S.Dont let things like this one upset you....Its all relative what answers you get here...So read everything but believe some

You're getting too worked up over this. It's the way the question was posted. "Why are victims of murder usually women" implies that the questioner, based on thier own knowledge and info has accurate information. People are responding to THAT. People automatically think of victims of domestic violence, rape, kidnappings, etc. If the question were posed as, "In what gender does the majority of murder victims fall into for the last century?" then people's automatic answer would be different (maybe closer to what you are suggesting."
Watch this? "I am allergic to eggs and love Mexican food, but why do they put eggs in tortillas?" The answer is that they don't but our minds automatically want to answer the why.

you're maximum fertile interior of both weeks previously you commence your era, so the probabilities are extreme low. even so, i counsel you get some homestead being pregnant checks and examine once a week for the subsequent 2 or 3 weeks. in case you get a favorable outcome pass on your well being care specialist and performance them try you - their checks tend to be more effective sturdy than something you'll %. up at a food market or pharmacy. I also propose you talk such as your fiance about how waiting you're to have children. in case you both pick to attend a lengthy time period you may want to judge using some variety of birth control. once you're frightened about edge-outcomes pass with condoms, or you'll likely desire contraceptive pills. in case you pick the latter, be particular to strictly adhere to the routine or they received't be everywhere close to as powerful. sturdy success :)

Dear Karma-
It's the Media, Stupid. (to paraphrase a bad old quote).
If indeed your facts are true (not sure I trust the gov't either lol) it was educational for me.
Only explanation I can think of is CNN's, Fox's, etc, fascination with violence of all kinds against women- the titillation factor. The overreporting is skewing all our brains and perceptions.
Thank you for a good discussion.
Best regards

Although you have answered your own question, your points are very valid. Don't take to heart the answers that you get here. Most people just give an answer off the top of their heads and not give/research facts. I applaud you for the effort. This is a place for fun, not facts. Don't be so serious. You will only frustrate yourself.
