Great well thought out question. I am black and have always heard from others in my community that if you are any part black that in societies eyes will make you black. I have cousins of mixed race decent and they have all said that they are more accepted in the black community. I had a Caucasian friend tell me once, that it is that way because they couldn't really tell the difference. In Jade's case I could see how she could pass for whichever race she wanted. At the end of the day I beg to ask the question, Does it really Matter?

The way I see it is racism is racism. Although there is a thin line between racism and stupidness in Jades case.
I have met people who are mixed race (Black & White for example) but are incredibly racist to Asian people. Equally I have met White people who love Black men but are disgusted by Chinese guys.
I dont think having "a bit of black" in you stops you seeing people in categories and discriminating.
I am not White but I am bored of people who arent being allowed to say racist or discrininatory things because we cant be racist because we can. The definition of racism is believing in races first of all but then thinking certain ones can be better than others remember. Prejudice is just of racism that is applied. Xenophobia I think applies more to the big brother sitiuation as It seemed they were more annoyed with her culture rather than her skin. If Shilpa was a Londoner they would have treated her much better. In the view that Western people and countries are better Jermaine never got hassled by the rabble.

It makes Jade a person that comes from black heritage. It does depend on the attitude of the person and their experiences of how they interact with each race of which they are made up as to what they accept.
Just because Jade has black people in her family does not mean that she cannot be racist. A white English person can be racist against a white Irish person, just as a West Indian black person can be racist against an African black person.

Everyone has African blood in them, so it's ludicrous to be racist. She was still picking on an Indian, not a black person - so in that sense she could still be racist. Jade has white skin, so is white in the public perception. I think she is just incredibly ignorant/stupid - I couldn't care less what she "thinks" about anything.

Well Ian Johnson -- a very light skinned Afro/Am football player -- proposed to a white cheerleader in front of a stadium full of people and many people responded online --on the Trojan blog for one -- with hostile, racist, comments against it. He is so light it is sometimes hard to tell whether or not he is black. But, certain whites -- following that old one drop rule -- did not accept him as white. This rejection is the main reason why many light mixed people became "black."

Racism is being prejudiced regarding someone of a race other than your own so Jade could be racist and being herself of mixed race has nothing to do with it. I am not saying she is or not but her own race does not give her a free pass

BLEH !!!!!!! WHO CARES !! Jade is a person just like the rest of us. She should be accepted based on what she does, NOT on her heritage.
Honestly, only a racist would ever consider such a question!!!!
