What schools are good for people preparing to become psychiatrist?

You can major in whatever you like, and take medicine prerequisites while you're in undergraduate collge, then you have to take the MCAT exam in junior year. Then you apply to medical school and specialize in psychiatry. That's about 12 years in education.

psychiatrists are medical doctors, so if you want to be a psychiatrist, you need to go to medical school. It doesn't matter so much what you major in, but you need to do the standard pre-med preparations.

you'll have to go to medical school so you should have a broad background in biology, chemistry, and other sciences

if you want to be a psychologist and provide psychotherapy services, you should major in psychology. it's easier to get into medical school than it is to get into doctoral programs in clinical psychology, though, and that combined with the shortage of psychiatrists might make that a better field to go into.

First you have to major in pre-med or whatever medical major your school offers, then you apply for medical school and major in psychiatry, dont know exact school names though, u should do a search for medical schools that appeal to you.
