Now I have been having heartburn, nausea and spotting for 3-4 days. Can you concieve with an IUD?

Yes- though a low chance, it is still possible to get pregnant despite having an IUD, and your chances are greater at having an ectopic pregnancy. No contraception is 100% effective except for abstinence. 12% of users also experience ovarian cysts. If you feel you could be pregnant, your best bet is to see your doctor for a pregnancy blood test as this is the most accurate way of testing. It's also possible that what you are experiencing are side effects of Mirena.

You can, although the risks are very small (Mirena is supposedly 99.9% effective, so less than one 1 woman in a thousand would get pregnant per year when using it). Conceiving with an IUD in place is not good either for you or for the fetus, since it causes a huge increase in the likelihood of ectopic (tubal) pregnancies.

While your symptoms could be caused by a lot of stuff, a pregnancy test or a call to the doctor is probably in order to rule out anything dangerous.

I had a Mirena IUD put in 2 years ago. For the first few months I had the same symptoms every once in a while. My doctor told me that your period can become so light that it's just spotting and eventually could go away. After a while the spotting went away as well as the other symptoms. Now I don't have any problems and I don't get my period anymore. It just takes your body a while to adjust to it. If you have questions your OBGYN will be more than willing to answer them. Just ask.

An IUD is neat because it fills the space, then the body makes as much hormone as it needs to send the "occupied" message to the rest of the body. Consult with the practitioner who installed it.

There is still a chance of getting pregnant with any kind of birth control even with tubal ligation.
