Jerry jones wants him to coach the cowboys and the mccaskys are offering 3 mil less than what he wants. this is the same owner that bills the park district for resodding Soldier field. moves the bears after 1 winning season(2002) and thinks cheerleaders "misrepresent" football.

Mrs. McCaskey isn't the problem...her sons are. She's very much up there in age and "her boys" are running the team. I went to grad school with a couple of them and couldn't believe how bizarre their thinking is on financial matters. The fact that Mike has a PhD in Business Admin and used to be a prof at Case Western makes him the "guru" of the family. He also ran the team into the ground and alienated a lot of very influential people...including Ditka. I remember sitting in class with Mike's brother and jokingly saying "maybe it's time for your mom to fire Mike and hire a professional manager". That was on a Thursday. The following Monday he was gone. I'm not saying I was the reason he was fired. But I am saying that they are running a business based on emotion and without a strong leadership. From that they go off on bizarre tangents and have to do a great deal of damage control afterwards. The only way this turns out well for Chicago is if Ditka gets on TV and boldly suggests that the McCaskeys need to cut bait and let Lovey go. Whatever Ditka says is going to be the opposite of what Mike McCaskey actually does...and Mike is the voice that the family listens to in matters like this.

they will likely offer him some serious money but this is Lovie's moment and he may want to cash in with a big contract some place else where he can Dennis Green out and fail. This is a good mix, him and the Bears. Hey, did you know that Cowher was only paid 4 million after 15 yrs and two Super Bowls? I hope they can make a deal to keep Lovey but they may not be able to as he may be wanting more than they are willing to pay. Cowher was paid half of what Holmgren was paid to lose to him in the SuperBowl and so its clear that the Steelers just don't pay coaches like superstars. That they picked Mike Tomlin indicates they are looking for a young coach who will work cheap and maybe stay around for the lesser money. Incidentally the Rooney's are the owners who sponsored the affirmative action clause in the selection process for coaches so its no surprise that they hired Mike Tomlin. They were committed to finding a black coach so in one sense Russ Grimm who will be going into the hall of fame in a few months had no chance at the job because he was white. Thats racism too but thats acceptable. hard to keep up with political correctness. I just hope that Tomlin can coach.
