Some people seem to agree, but money can't buy happiness. I know I would be happy driving around in a brand new car and going home to a big screen tv, but I wouldn't be happy with the payments. I am content with my 27" and used van. :)

Being happy is a state of YOUR mind not the state of your physical ownership of things. Think of all the actors and singers and rich people who had all of the material thigs their hearts desired yet were depressed enough to commit suicide. Material comfort is FAR from being happy. But WHEN you are happy Material Comfort probably helps to maintain it.

Not at all.Happiness is a state of mind.Different people are happy with different things in life.No one is absolutely happy with material comforts alone.

Many wealthy people are unhappy, and many poor people are very happy, although they have barely enough food and have to sleep on the ground. I was happy when I was young, just living under a tree, with few possessions. Guatama (the Buddah) lived similarly(under a tree) for a long time.
