Dianisis was the Greek god of wine, ecstacy, and theatre. Anyone know anything about the cult that goes with it?

The cult of Dyonysus transformed itself to become the theatre as we know today and also some festivities like Brazilian Carnival and Mardi-Gras. In all, the cult was basically everybody singing, drinking wine, free to do anything they wanted, with sex and dance, people getting into a mind alterated states, killing of animals with the hands, etc... like many other fertility cults.

I don't know anything about the cult, though.

Could it be the same as Dianetics which is Scientology.(All are Gods including Christ.)
