I don't think I was ever "mad" at them..but definitely disappointed that someone would use a microphone over seas to make it sound like the entire United States was ashamed of their President.
Mostly I think entertainers are no more educated than the rest of us..and in some circumstances they are much less educated than the rest of us. But they have the spot light and they have the microphones and cameras, so every one gets to know their opinion if they are stupid enough to want to alienate some of their fan base.
I wouldn't change the channel if one of their songs came on, but I am not particularly interested in watching that "I'm Not Ready to Make Nice" video again...even though it was VERY well done. I think it is time for everyone to put it to rest including The Dixie Chicks...and then they come out with that work.
So maybe I am conflicted. I like their music, don't give a toot about their politics and wish they would keep it to themselves so I could just enjoy the music. But we have free speech in this country so I am not going to crush a bunch of their CD's with a street roller. But I probably won't buy them.
Good question. I give you a star. Thanks for making me think.

I was never mad at them in the first place-they can say or believe whatever they want. If they had been on stage supporting the President, nobody would have said a word, but because they said they didn't, all of a sudden they were anti-American? This country was founded on civil liberties including free speech. This president is not the pinnacle of America's Dream Man anyway--I can understand the criticism came from them being overseas when they said this, where it is sort of understood that your support your own (publicly support, privately confront kind of thing), but even so, I feel they were unnecessarily ostracized and criticized when they have every right to express their dislike for our President.

I think people need to get over themselves. Bush is a horrible President and I hear people say it everyday. The Dixie Chicks voiced their opinion, big deal? Its called free speech. If the government doesn't like it then change the amendment. I'm not mad at them because I don't really follow them...in other words I don't like their music.

No at at. Everyone was pissed off because Bush was fowling up everything he did from killing our troops to killinging innocent civilians overseas to not acting on what he knew to be terriorist threats before 911 even hit us, to making up stories of biological warfare. No, I really don't care what entertainers think either, am mean c'mon, the Dixie Chicks? What do they really know about politics?

I still love the Dixie Chicks...I never saw what the big deal was.
People criticize Pres. Bush EVERY SINGLE DAY! They said it overseas? So What? At least they didn't say it in IRAQ. I think it was blown WAY out of proportion. They have the right to their opinion.......thats what America is all about.

I don't like them, and not just because of what they said about the President. They were rude and arrogant long before they expressed their views of Bush. That was more like a last straw for me. Now, I'm not saying I agree with Bush, but I wouldn't go to another country putting him down, especially if I was an american "icon" so to speak. People look up to those who have a powerful position, be it singer, football player, movie star, etc. And anything they say will be taken more seriously than if us common folk were to say the same thing. Take a look at the Beatles when John said they were bigger than Jesus... The media went crazy... because of the position the Beatles held. Had it been you or I who said it, no one would have thought twice. Anytime a person is in the spot light, they need to be more careful about their words and actions. That was a definate case of "It's better to appear stupid than to open your mouth and remove all doubt"

Interesting question.
I myself, never hated them. They had the courage to stand up to challenge the president when so few else would. We all know now that there were a whole pack of lies told to encourage support for the war. Of course Rush L and BillO encouraged hatred for them.
Now, 70 percent of the country respond to polls affirmatively when asked if the war in Iraq was a mistake. So the DCs were right all along. Oh I guess that might be a reason to hate them (LOL)!

I never liked the Dixie Chicks and after their stupidity in England I knew there was reason I never liked them. I've never understood why celebrities think they are so much smarter than our top presidential advisors...it's the same reason I don't listen to Barbra Streisand, or go to see George Clooney or Julia Roberts. I'm not saying you don't have the right to an opinion but for God's sake, think before you open your trap...at least sound like you have thought about what you wanted to say first.

Everyone has their right to free speech. Even entertainers. I think it's time to let it go. All she did was say out loud what people have been thinking for years. To give her a death threat over something so little is ludicrous. There should be a few people apologizing to her.

I never needed chubby to run her mouth to hate them... I can't STAND bluegrass music and it is all over their sound overall like fungus!
She has always annoyed me... The two sisters, not so much but I never really paid then any attention anyway so...
The only CD of theirs in all honesty that I ever liked was Fly.
Like it has already been said by others... You don't mock on man for being Southern and then write and perform a song like Earl.
That's like asking how do you like your southern, stereotypical ignorance? Politically or musically?
