Anyone over... say, 12 who speaks in such a way should be evaluated. Perhaps they should spend more time studying in school and less time talking to uninformed busybodies with simplistic views and explanations.
The fetus is a potential human. What else could it be. The question you apparently wish to raise is - "If the fetus is human, isn't abortion murder?"
The short, quick answer is, "No!"
A woman in America has personal autonomy. She has dominion over her own mind and body. As with men in America, certain rights and freedoms are ASSUMED to be inalienable under the Constitution. While the fetus is human, it does not have rights until it no longer depends on the body of the woman for life and sustenance. Obviously, one cannot assume rights for the woman - and then grant equal rights to an entity that is that is still a part of her body. One set of rights would cancel out the other.
So - the fetus is a human, on its way to becoming a baby at birth -(when it takes its first breath on its own, according to Genesis) - unless and until the woman hosting the fetus decides to terminate it. The fetus itself has no status apart from the autonomous wishes of the woman. Yes, it's a potential human; in the mean time, it's a parasitical appendage.

Exactly, I agree the word "fetus" is almost alien like, giving people an easy way of dehumanizing what is actually growing in us. The truth is, it is human, it is life, and it someday could do great things. Humans were put on earth to recreate, just like all other animals. A human is a human from conception to birth, and from birth to death.

And furthermore, if it isn't a "life", why does anything need to be done to it? Wouldn't it just go away if you just left it alone?
But, alas, it has to be surgically removed. So it's a tumor? But if left alone, that tumor will turn into a baby?
The only thing I've seen similar to that in nature is the caterpillar that turns into a butterfly. And then, if you kill the caterpillar you never get the butterfly.
So either the thing I give birth to is a tumor, or the thing GROWING inside me is a baby. hmmmm....
I vote "baby" because I FEAR GOD.

what is the issue of an human being called baby at birth?
it is a word that denotes an human being at his first months of life since going out of the womb at birth
during pregnancy, it is a fetus, at birth it is a baby, later on it is a toddler, later on a kid, later on a tween, later on a teen, than a young adult, than an adult, than a mature person, than a senior person
all the way from Fetus(heck even from the time it is an Embryo) to death as a senior; all of them denote an human being
EDIT
I agree with poster that during pregnancy, the Fetus it is a human being. I simply don't agree with poster equalling Baby with Fetus, nor equalling every single human being as currently being a baby
the term Baby refers to time from Birth till that human being becomes a toddler

The difference whether or not someone wants it ,it is a baby if they do but if they are just going to abort it it is too hard for them to call it a baby. You can abort a fetus but not a baby. In my opionion it is a baby from conception because of course wait nine months you will certainly have a baby.

oh lord, you're gonna get nailed on this one, lol.
I think their argument is it isn't a living thing until it is viable. They think of the fetus as just a bunch of goo, even though it has a heart beat at 3weeks, and all of its body parts and organs are functioning typically by 9 weeks, but I guess that still doesn't mean its "alive". If it helps them sleep at night, then so be it.

It is a potential baby, sure. But until it can live on its own it is not a baby. A seed is not a flower. My position on abortion is that even if it is wrong, the individual is responsible for the "sin" and society has nothing to do with it.

it does seem to be easier to think of it as a human after its born, even tho the moment its concieved its a human. people prefer to think of a fetus as a "thing" to satisfy thier conscience when they choose to kill it b/c it would inconvience them.
