It was originally created to get kids to be more active and get some exercise so they would be more healthy. They should make PE mandatory, again, then maybe we wouldn't have so many over weight children sitting in front of the playstation. Back when PE was a regular part of the school day, we were a much healthier society.
BTW: In elementary school, it's called "recess." Don't you miss it?

Physical Education was 'created' to do exactly what it's name says ... to educate people to be physically fit (and therefore more healthy in general). I'm sorry if you have to go out in the freezing cold, snow, hail, or rain to do your exercises and play sports ... perhaps you could ask your P.E. teacher for some things that you could do in the gym on those days ... or, if your school doesn't have a gym because of not having enough money, then you could try to find a way to 'earn' the money ... and get everyone else involved.

We are a nation of over eaters...the national obesity rate is alarming. We need to have a structured place where muscles can be used and calories burned.
I have yet to see a gym teacher take students out in the freezing cold, snow, rain or hail.

Heh, while I can admit to resenting P.E. when I was in school, I appreciate it now. PE is a chance for you to get up and move, burn off energy stored up by sitting still in classes and keep healthy. Once you're out of school you won't get that chance again unless it's on your own time, after you've come home from a long day.
Moving keeps you healthy, and being healthy keeps you happy!

its to improve the health of children by making them do exercises, p.e. was not my biggest pain in the **** when i was in school.

i agree. i hate that too. i think the teachers wants to relax while making u exericise in the painful weather.
