The attitude era was 1997-2001. Since then, in my opinion, wrestling has become boring and predictable.

I do think youre dead on about the date, I always list those years as the best 97-01.

Will it ever be as good?

Short answer : No.

But in the future it may become close.
Wrestling is cyclinar, it becomes good for a couple years, bad for a couple years, and now it may be at an all time low, but it has potential for an upswing with TNA and WSX (and somewhat ROH).

It's the theory that everyone mentions that wwe needs competition. WCW took wwe stars that didnt work and made them better, and vice-versa. When there was no competition, vince single handedly controlled who became the wrestling industry and a lot of people that didnt work for him, would have worked on another show, if there was one.
The other problem is vince has created a "look" of what his wrestlers should be and is pushing talentless, steroid-freak, giants and nobody else. Thats not what made wrestling good. HBK, Austin, Angle, and HHH and Rock (when they first got a main event push) were all smaller wrestlers. If Vince ran the company in the 90's like he did today, there would be no rock or austin, no michaels, he would have pushed them aside for some slow giant, like cena or batista.
So the upswing in wrestling wont be soon, at least not in the wwe. Their talent is aging and retiring. Their new generation, the cenas, batistas, lashleys, and Umagas arent very good, and cant carry a company or industry. And they have nobody on the horizon that looks like they could "step it up". Carlito? Kennedy? Maybe. and still not for at least a year or two.

I think it will, there's always the off times and the on times, you just gotta get the right groups to make all matches interesting and fish out the ones that you want to fall asleep to, attitude has so many huge wrestlers that were all entertaining in their own way, and right now, we are packed with a lot of new people that we have to get used to, and just like the Triple H, Rock, and Austin and a lot of others, they may need to go through a few characters for us to be entertained, I know that when the Rock, Triple H and Austin all came out in their very first gimmicks, I was like, "There is no way anything is going to come from this" the crowd felt the same way, then they changed things up, and those three alone were a good show, not counting all the others who were more than entertaining. It will happen again, WWE just needs to see where the new guys fit, and then let them run wild! They need more stuff like what Austin used to do during the McMahon vs. Austin wars, those were great!!

It most likely will. Wrestling has always had its ups and downs. Right now, however, there are a few young guys in the business who look like they might lead a "renaissance" in wrestling. Guys like Batista and (love him or hate him) John Cena have wonderful charisma and draw massive heat from the crowds. Kenny Dyskstra is another young up-and-comer who shows a lot of promise. Mr. Kennedy reminds me a lot of a young Ric Flair. He knows just what to do in the ring to get a win or at least get a reaction from the crowd AND he has solid mic skills. The Alpha Male, if his character is handled properly, has the potential to become a big star. He has an explosive in-ring style that the crowds can really get into. Other potential superstars include London, Kendrick and Lashley.

The writing is key to the success of it all. Like I stated before, Alpha Male has tons of potential, but if his character is mishandled, he'll be ruined.

No it won't b/c most of the creative writers from that era have left the company. But you're right, at this point WWE is more predictable than "wrestling" has ever been. We all know that John Cena will somehow overcome all odds and knockout Umaga this Sunday. But yet Umaga is supposed to be an unstoppable beast. WWE has gone way down since the Attitude Era!

OMG dont you speak the truth! that was exactly when wrestling was in its prime in my oppinion. I wached up untill 2002 when i stoped due to the extremly lame story lines and terible sportsman ship. Kame bac after Lita left (she was my number one female wrestler of all time), because i was too upset to watch her Heal character. But no change still utter sh*te!!! Al i want is some decent storys and quality wrestling. its all about the bussiness now, the over all look of the company the ONE "tasty" story line instead of indiviuals and groups becoming stong and tight wrestlers and friends and forwarding there one story... WWE would learn alot if they actually took on board what the wrestlers want to do instead of employing terrible writers (and i mean GOD AWFUL).

Someone do somethin!!

yes...but it might not even take competing w/ tna to do it. in my opinion, it has to do w/ the circumstances. ex...the first wrestling boom was in 85...with the rock and wrestling connection. next boom was 96...with the 'hostile takeover' of wcw by the nwo. when will the next one be? itll take more than tna vs.wwe to spark it.

I think it will, eventually. The sport of wrestling tends to have deep valleys. Right now, we're still towards the bottom.

When the next big star comes along and turns the wrestling world on it's ear, then maybe. until then, they'll just keep plugging along.
