I don't know what the official name for those windows is but I've moved into my gran's old flat and have taken the lattice bit off but all the glue is still there and I don't know how to get rid of it - trying White spirit but it's taking forever! Do I need to keep going with the white spirit or has anyone any better plans???

You could try using a Stanley knife that is specially designed for scraping paint from glass. White spirit will not dissolve the
adhesive used to stick lead to glass very well try acetone, nail varnish remover, Cellulose thinners, or petrol.

Don't forget to wear rubber gloves and keep the area well ventilated and no Smoking or naked lights.
