Yes, a lot of babies do this. They are playing around with there teeth, because they are new and don't know any better. I have 3 children and they all did it for a brief period of time.

I also worked in child care for 6 years and I've ran into my share of babies that love to rub those pearly whites together.

If it continues for a long period of time I would talk to the pediatrician about it.

Good Luck!

All three of mine did it!! I was told by the pediatrician that it was normal reaction to cutting teeth because of the itchy gums, when the teeth grind together it sends little vibrations through the gums which can help relieve the itch a bit, once they stopped teething the grinding stopped.

How lengthy has she been doing this? If a lengthy time period now i might want to bypass alongside on your dentist. In adults, tooth grinding would properly be a demonstration of stress/rigidity - and therefore on your infant she will be experiencing stress/rigidity (no longer contained in the psychlogical experience) yet somewhat via conceivable underlying discomfort. operating example, the discomfort from teething will be causing her to grind her tooth. once you youngster begins getting tooth that is sensible to take them alongside to the dentist besides - even with if her tooth grinding isn't some thing to rigidity about it will be saved a watch on - damage can happen to the tooth (surprisingly if the grinding is demanding and extreme). even although they are in user-friendly words infant tooth it would not count number - damage to the newborn tooth can impression later progression of the guy tooth. I fell away from mattress as a baby and damged my 2 proper the front tooth - at the same time as my man or woman tooth got here with the help of the bottom halves of those tooth were discoloured.

Yes its normal. I have 3 children and only 2 of them did this. My 2 year old still does it. The dentist says it is normal but he will keep an eye on it since he still is doing it. He says it could ware his teeth down if he contines this behavier for a long period of time. So my suggestion is to watch him and if it seams like hes doing it alot for a long period of time and you are concerned then just ask the dentist to take a look.

All 3 of mine did this and it seems to be because its something new in their mouth and probably makes a new sound in their ears. If he seems grouchy it could be his gums are itchy or hurting try putting some teething gel on his gums to see if that helps or give him something to chew on. Try a frozen banana or a cold teething ring.

Yes this is completley normal my son did this too. In fact he,s nearly 1 now and still does it.
I suppose it,s because all of a sudden they have these little things in their mouth and wonder what they are for and what they do. So they start exploring. It,s cute really even though it goes through us.

My youngest daughter was born with her two bottom teeth....she began "grinding" her teeth from almost birth. She still does it to this day.

Yes it's normal. He's just exploring his teeth. My daughter did this for several months and my dentist said it was fine.

He's just exploring and finding out what these things that have appeared in his mouth can do!

When he does it don't make a fuss or he will keep doing it for a reaction. Maybe just hand him something to chew if your worried.
