In the opening montage of X-Files (where the music playing) there are many different weird pictures flashed for about 5-10 seconds each. One of them shows what I thought was an x-ray of an alien skull crying, and my Fiance thinks is some sort of mirrored trunk extending. If you know what I'm talking about, you'll know what I'm talking about... So. Definitively, what the hell is it? We've been arguing about it for far too long now.

It's the 5th scene (not including the opening "X-Files" slide), the one that says "Paranormal Activity" right in the middle, and it has two circular things to the left and right of the Paranormal Activity words. We've been debating this for quite some time, and I still haven't found a definitive answer. I'm looking at it now, paused, and it does sort of look like an elephant or something, extending its trunk... but what's paranormal about that? =)

I know what you are talking about. I always thought it was a mirrored image of a swan or some kind of weird looking bird. However, it could also be a strange creature growing or extending, or perhaps something under a microscope, like a bacteria or an alien virus. Now that I am watching it again, it reminds me of an abnormal flower blooming. It could also be a claw or a fang coming out of its sheath. These are all just guesses though. The words "Paranormal Activity" are there it so that may be a hint that it's not something we can easily identify. There is also a swirly pattern behind it but that appears to be mirrored too.
I think that's a human face crying and being distorted. It kind of reminds me of that painting by Edvard Munch called "The Scream". There is also the shadow of a hand moving over a purple lighted thing that has writing on it that reminds me of something that would be on the alien space craft from The Sixth Extinction, or the Rosetta Stone. Then there's that ball thing that is dotted with swirling lights. Who knows what any of it means; it seems to be random, eerie stuff, although I wouldn't be surprised if every image in the theme had some kind of significance.

Which picture is it(i.e. 2nd? 3rd?...) If you can tell me that, then I can rewatch the opening credits and let you know...
