They claim she "forgot" how to speak her language and now only communicates through grunts and gestures.

When I think, I hear words in my head. Would she not have done the same?? How can anyone who thinks on a regular basis (which I hope would be EVERYBODY) just forget how to talk??

I mean when I think about something, I think in my head that I should do it and I her the words...

Did she not ever stop and think in all her 19 years in the jungle "Hm... maybe I'd like to eat a monkey today.."

In order to survive in the wild for 19 years, verbal strength is not high on the "must have" list. In order to fend for yourself you need to rely on keen instinct that is heightened to a level that is more likely to be found in most animals. She would no longer "think" in words to form statements, but react instinctually to to stimulus in her surroundings. It is similar to the phenomenon that allows a person who loses one of their senses to overcompensate with the others. If you go blind, your hearing and sense of touch are heightened as a mechanism to increase your chances of survival. Same with "jungle woman".

It's either that or she just doesn't want to talk to all of the nosy reporters. When I heard that she wanted to go back to the jungle, it did not surprise me one bit.

One learns a language by talking to other people who speak it. Unless you are schizo u did'nt really hear words in your head. What u r thinking about reminds u of words, because u spend so much time talking and typing. While the words are closely associated with the thoughts, they are not necessary to think. Personally, I dont think in words all the time, sometimes I think in images or music. If I am thinking about something that is complicated I dont use words and I find it allows me to think faster, but then I find that I cant put these concepts I just thought of into words. After 19 years with out talking to anyone she wouldn't be able to put her thoughts into words because she was out of practice, though some words that she heard would bring back distant memories. If you could learn to think without words you could get alot more thinking done.
