Sorry in advance if this is a little gross. I just went to the bathroom and had this large amount of "discharge" and it had a pink tinge to some of it. Is that my mucous plug? I didn't notice anything like tihs with my first baby. Also, I know it could still be a while until labor starts--which I'm hoping it will start today/tomorrow NOW lol. How long after you lost your plug did you go into labor? I also went to the drs yesterday and she said I'm 4cm dilated and she thinks I won't make it to my next appt (next monday). In your opinion do you think labor will start in the next 48 hours? Thanks in advance. Also, I know it's impossible to predict but just wondering what others opinions on the subject are. Thanks!

Some women lose their plus then go into labor 6 hours later, some women go in 6 days later. My friend who just had her baby lost hers 4 days before and I lost mine today and have no signs of labor yet.
4cm dialated already! Good job and congratulations on the baby. I say it wont be much longer now especially if you are already 4cm since the losing of the plus signifies more dialation or efacing :) your making progress!

It is indeed your mucous plug. If it is tinted with blood you are likely to go into labor in the next 48 hours. With my first child I lost it the same day I went into labor and with my third who was born a month ago the discharge began four days before, but as soon blood show in the mucous I went into labor that day.
I know all pregnancies are not the same but at least you can have an idea with my experiences. Congratulations and good luck!!!

I lost my mucous plug 4 weeks before I went into labor but I was only dilated 2cm. I would say that you might go into labor in the next 48 hours but you could walk a lot over the next couple days to help it along if you wanted to. Good Luck!

Congrats first of all, When I lost my mucus plug it was about 4am the day after xmas in 2002. I woke up and had to go pee, I sat on the toilet and went pee and I heard this KURPLUNK, I looked in the toilet and saw a tenge of blood and I knew then that I had lost my mucus plug. I didnt have any pain and I sure didnt think I was in labor. Worried about the blood I sat on the toilet and I called the Hospital, they asked me to stand up and see if my water had broke or not. I stood up and guess what, I had a flood of womb juice, my water had broke. The Hospital told me to come in with in an hour. When I got to the hospital I was dialated to 3 and having contractions but I was not feeling the contractions. I had my beautiful baby girl after 16 hours of long labor and a CSection, at 10:54pm that night. Exactly one week before I went into labor I was told not to expect an early delivery I wasnt even dialated and I wasnt due for another 3 weeks. While Im not a doctor, it sounds like you may have lost your mucus plug. I was told at my prenatal classes that you can lose you mucus plug long before you go into labor. Everyone is different. First congrats on having a baby soon! I know that they teach us in school, labor could start as early as that day or as late as 2 weeks. I don't know when I lost my mucous plug (and I was looking for it.) Since this is your second baby, and you are already 4 cm, my guess is it will be pretty soon. I'd venture to say the next day or two, so forget the walking, get everything ready at the house! :) Finish your last minute nesting and get some rest so you will be ready for what is about to come. you should get ready to go to the hospital. Do the dishes, make sure that everthing is ready to go and in the car, clean the house up, just get ready. Also if you make it to tonight, make sure that you put some protection on your bed so if your water breaks during the night. You baby will be here any minute. Be ready, you will not feel like doing that stuff after you get home with the baby and also a little work will help you go into labor quicker. Maybe if you want labor here now, have sex tonight. i idea I had lost my mucous plug, purely to truly lose it the subsequent day. (It become about a a million/4 cup of mucous! Gross, i understand.) I lost it with 2 of my 4 pregnancies. the first time I lost it, I had my son that nighttime, the different being pregnant I had the infant a million week later. good success!!

Sounds like mucus plug with bloody show. I lost mine on a Sunday evening, and had my son on a Tuesday morning. I even worked the Monday between...lol...everyone thought I was nuts! Anyway, I really didn't have any major contractions until Monday night, and then I didn't have a very long labor (5 hrs). Good luck to ya!!!

Yes, your labor will probably start within the next 24 hours or so. Start that walking!!LOL. 4cm?? WOW!!! You should progress really well then. Seriously, yes your labor should start soon, and walking could help move it along a little faster. Good Luck!! Congrats on the new baby!!

Sounds like baby is on the way! I lost my mucus plug (sounds about the same) and went into labor within a few hours. Good Luck and you'll have to let us all know how it goes.
