In South Africa this seems to be a growing problem, because our kids are not getting the education we did. The teachers teaching the subjects they are not qualified to teach or there are not teachers for certain subjects. More and more parents are taking their kids out of government schools and putting them in colleges. What do the rest of you think? Is it because our kids are to big for their boots that the teachers have lost interest or is there really problems with our educational department?

Here in the States the problem is about the same with highschool kids dropping out at an alarming rate...The last year is the roughest but the easiest if they would just stay and listen...respect is gone; they are adults or near adults along the year and do act it...
They say it takes a community to raise a child...that is the parents and school and neighbors and businessmen when communities were smaller. If a child did wrong when I was young, a lot of people knew and tried to explain to the child what was expected of him/her...now it is "I got away with that" "Ha Ha Ha " and on to the next trick or trouble without parental correction.
The schools have been hard hit with providing the tools to teach and the subjects of interest. This is where the school board comes in to play...they are the funders and decision makers as to what a school offers...
There is no answer to your question, only temp solutions that may or may not work...plucking along
