Wash your face with warm/hot water. Leave it wet. Lather up immediately with shaving cream and let it set on your face for 60 seconds to "set up" your beard hairs. I can only use a top quality razor like the Gillette Mach 3. I use "Sensitive Skin" shaving cream; usually Colgate or Barbasol. I am sure you could buy more expensive brands but I don't know if they will help or not. DO NOT use after shave or cologne on your face. They usually contain alcohol or other ingredients that will burn your skin.

I have a friend who has suggested putting on a good hand lotion on your face before adding the shaving cream. He claims this prevents nicks and irritation.

I cannot use an electric razor. It irritates my skin and causes a rash.

Finally, if this does not help, see your doctor or a dermatologist.
