Their are several things going on as the oil burns, there is no way you should make any adjustments, call a service tech, you need instruments to make proper adjustments to get it to burn as efficiently as possible. And this tune up should be done at one year intervals to keep the unit running tip top.
Do not make adjustments by eye alone.

A typical home oil burner pumps up to 25 gallons an hour at 100 PSI. You have nozzles that restrict the flow. Trailers might take a .5 GPH nozzle, while a home might run .75 to 1.25 GPH.
Most likely someone put too large a nozzle than what you had before. Most malfunctions cause the burn rate to drop or outright stop.
If the nozzle is in fact too big, it can ruin your firebox, boiler (if you have one), heat exchanger and possibly the flue. Get it checked.

You can have a smaller nozzle installed by a qualified tech. Just remember, if it takes longer to heat your house with a smaller nozzle you haven't gained a thing. Take the advice of the tech. He can also check for oil leaks between the tank and furnace.

were you ran out and you bled it. i would suggest trying to bled it again and let it run for a good two cycles after it trips its self out, because their are allot of bubbles! and if that still doesn't work you may need a new nozzle because it may have clogged it up with tank yuck. where you need heat now get a small needle and stick it in the end of the nozzle and see if that help and also try cleaning you eye with a piece of tp nothing harsh because you can scratch it. good luck:) if you don't know where these parts are email me and i can help you best i can:)

Call a tech.
The air venting & supply might be too much, having more oil burn faster.
