I think this is the advantage to Yahoo answers.

Yes, you can go on Wikipedia or Google it to find your facts , but why is it so interesting to get other peoples versions of reality and facts?

If someone feels a certain way about something, then (s)he may feel a sense of solidarity with a person who has a similar opinion, especially if there are only very few people who share the same opinion - you would feel less of an outsider then against the majority. You get a sense of validation when someone agrees with you - a sense of "oh, I'm not alone in thinking this".

Of course, someone's opinion about fact doesn't change the fact itself. The person's idea of what is true may change when (s)he hears another's opinion, but truth itself doesn't change.

Getting another's opinion may also help you understand the facts more clearly. You may see or understand things that you didn't before, when someone draws your attention to another way of interpreting the facts. It lets you see the facts from another perspective other than your own and may give you a deeper understanding about the myriad underlying reasons for the hard "facts" themselves

I think it depends on the question.
Some people think their opinions are facts especially when it comes to religion.
