As my late daddy use to say, it's best never to judge another but if we must then do the research. A lot of people use to say that Martin Luther King was dumb, (they were wrong). And as I understand it ....and these are the facts, President Bush had a higher GPA at Yale than did the distinguished Senator from Massachusetts, former Presidential candidate and Vietnam war hero Senator John Kerry.
No one questions how much gray matter Senator Kerry has, but then the color of our politics sometimes tempers how we look at others and when we look ..what it is that we see. Like all of us Bush has qualities which are not commendable but intellect?
I think history will be the better judge of that one.
As for how he got in ...money..knowing people... sending in an application. I assume all of those were involved just as was the case for Senator Kerry.
Both men served in the Military..one for 6 years in the reserves and one for a few months on active duty in Vietnam. Both men went into Politics and both men have contributed much to their country. We should all be so willing to serve no matter where we graduate from, what color our skin is, how old we are, what gender we are or religion we practice or even how bright some perceive us to be.

Well, "yes, mostly" to the first choice and "no, not really" to the second choice.
He was accepted at Yale, after SAT scores of 1206 (Yale doesnt admit students with less than 1400 combined on the SAT, but accepted GW Bush regardless)
He graduated Yale in 1968 with a below average GPA for Yale students, only 2.35, (however, he DID graduate and that CANNOT have been easy, even with help);
He was rejected at the University of Texas Law School;
His so called MBA is from Harvard. They accepted him even though the average GPA for their doctorate level courses is 3.5, while GW Bushs' was a 2.35. He got his MBA with below average grades;
So while he had no business being in ANY class at either Yale OR Harvard (due to his poor academic grades and low SAT score), he did get through both schools somehow and earn degrees. Im sure there was NO Hanky Panky going on there.

We don't all agree Bush is not intelligent. However he got into Yale and Harvard based not upon his academic record, but because of his connections.
That is not a reflection on Bush... it is a reflection not just on Yale but on the entire Ivy League. All colleges and universities will tell you grades are only one aspect considered in the acceptance procedure.
(Getting into Yale as an undergrad is less astonishing than getting into Harvard's MBA program with a C average.)

It's because Prescott Bush made lots of money doing business with the Nazi's during WW2. He was able to pay for his grandson's college education. He paid so much that he didn't even have to attend, they just handed him a diploma.

Look up nepotism in dictionary.com.
Look at where his two intellectual daughters go.
One followed her father's footsteps and the other goes to University of Texas at Austin. This main campus is rated above most ivy league schools.
The Ivy League is living on its past reputation. Most have the most authoritarian speech codes . Look up President Bollenger at Columbia. I think he got his ideas from Mein Kampf and the ACLU considers him one of the most eminent civil rights attorneys!
Some of the smaller, lesser known schools, offer a far more demanding education. Ignatius Press has put out its picks for best colleges and they're by no means all Catholic or all of any stripe.
Remember Chelsea went to Stanford and Carter's daughter was accepted at Brown, lost her way and dropped out.
Schools want publicity to fatten their endowments and faculty salaries.
If you think you can't rate a book by its cover, ask society.
BTW, we don't want intellectuals for President. Wilson was our most academic president and you can thank him for most of the bloodshed of the 20th century. John Adams was the wisest President we had. He saved our fledling nation from getting destroyed in the inflammatory divisions between Britain and France. Where in Washington is there a monument to him? Read David McCullough's bio. Although McCullough was no great historian, his love for Adams, John and Abigail, grew as he researched for the book and so it turned out to be a wonderful read. BTW, the people booted him after one term for the two-faced Jefferson.

Money!
I live right near Yale---and you can tell the people who work hard from the Daddy's Money types. The ones who work hard and are truly intelligent and deserving don't walk out in front of moving cars like the Daddy's Money ones.
Something else I found interesting---Yale teaches Sanskrit, but not journalism.

And based off this question we are to believe you are of superior intelligence. I find this even harder to believe. Those who mimic the nonsense from others who have no shred of Grey matter between their ears spew this crap. Sitting in your duct taped recliner wearing your sweat stained wife-beater thinking in your little mind, "burn" . That is the only time I'll try to keep my words "PC" for the offended victimized retards floating around with swollen heads believing they are the next Einstein. As his second term is fading this is still the best the complete fool can post and with such great pride. To add more to your question why do people keep electing Kennedy back in office, didn't he go to an "elitist" school where mommy and daddy paid his way, didn't they bail him out of murder charges, fat, educated to where he can spell his name, no wealth gained from his miserable existence. You want to take your 1st grade playground whining farther or do you have to wait for Rosie, Oprah, Hillary, and Nancy to tell you what to think next?

You said it
Its not hard to whip the workers , force them to work for the wages and benefits you are willing to pay and run a multi-national corporation these days . How hard is it to make something and profit from it when you have all the laws written to protect your business . The cost of starting any competing industry is prohibitive with out the resources to cheap third world labor and paying off the leaders of those people . They are forced to work the strip mines to provide the raw materials to manufacture the consumer goods Americans demand .
Copper mines in Argentina ,Aluminum in Brazil and Guyana ,French Guiana ,Cayenne ,Jamaica ,phosphate mining and other minerals we need to refine for the production of materials we rely on . Many of the fortunes made mining have been invested in the military build up of America in the last 50 years . All the raw components combine to build the products the defense industry needs .
Yale prepares you to take control and work the people to death to satisfy your own need for power and control . The crimes of family incest that where associated just a century ago with many cultures allowed the poor man the feeling of power over others . His abuse of his own family is part of the culture of many nations and has been taboo in america for many generations .
Yet you still see pockets of Mormons and poor folks in the Appalachians still practicing this form of control and dominance .Once you are taught what people really are it is easy to take advantage of them and use them for your own purposes .
Yale and other institutes prepare people to lead others and demand respect . Those who separate themselves from their baser instincts for sex and survival by bullying family and friends and moving into positions of authority over large numbers of people make a substantially larger amount of income possible .
They are superior to the rest of mankind and assume this role eagerly . They often abuse drugs women and other men to assert their dominance over the pack . This is done in private and not spoken of in polite society . When the daughter of a wealthy family is drugged and abused by a male peer, things are settled with a financial settlement . The boy or young man is told to take those actions to the common whores available all over . To keep his lust a secrete and never again get caught or he will pay the price and be cut off from the family money . Anyhow the rich are perverts drug addicts and monsters just like the rest of society . Yale teaches you to be above the common man and always appear dignified and in control .
