What scares people, what makes them fearful?

People can be scared by pretty much anything. When the fear gets to the point of being irrational and it interferes with your daily life and your relationships with other people, then it is a phobia. A person can develop a phobia of almost anything.

the cause of the fear may not be known exactly, but an event of the past is the cause of fear. There are over half a dozen type of fear.
Acro-phobia - fear of height
Claustra-phobia- closed area like a room or theatre
hydro-phobia - fear of water
phobo-phonia - fear of fear
triskaideka-phobia - fear of the number 13
heliophobia - fear of sun

I recently found out that for years what I thought was a fear of heights was really a fear of ceilings.

My imagination scares me. It started when I was a child, I would go to bed and start to think of where I would hide if someone came into the house to avoid being killed. I've always done this and to this day, I am scared of a lot of things but again, because I see or hear something and my imagination takes it to a higher level.
