The carpet remenant is 12 x 12 and I have it over my hardwood floor, with no pad. I really need to clean it because my crawling grandson always gets really dirty knees and feet. I can't use water because there's no pad, so I don't really know what to do, I really need some advice. Thanks

Ok first, even with a rug with padding you NEVER want to saturate the rub with water so the pad gets wet.

If the pad ever does get wet, it will create mildew under the rug.

The object is to only get the rub slightly damp.

However, There are products out there that actually clean without the use of water. Its the soap suds that are actually doing the cleaning, and when the suds dry, they chrystalize and then you vacuum them up.

So look in your local grocery store for that type of cleaner, and they do work really well to clean a rug. I can't say they would take up grape juice, but it works on dirt and grime.

There are products that you spray on, rub in with a sponge mop, then vacuum up. When using these products on a carpet with no pad, I would check under the carpet when the job is complete to make sure that your hardwood is not damp. If it is damp, I would just lift it one section at a time to let it dry. Maybe using a fan to speed up the process.
