I am not talking about hereditary peerages.

The House of Lords as an institution has been damaged - and nothing satisfactory done to replace the peers who reviewed and revised the ridiculous legislation coming from the Commons.

We should seriously be thinking about an elected second chamber.

Lord Archer is a convicted criminal, as is Lord Watson. They didn't even get their peerages taken from them. I don't think peerages have any value and the sooner we do away with them the better.
I certainly wouldn't give anyone any special treatment just because they had a peerage. We're all Jock Tamson's bairns"
