I am a relatively medium to large frame (UK size 16) and am 6 and a half weeks pregnant. I have been invited to a wedding in 9 weeks time when i will be 15 weeks (hopefully, if all goes well!)
Planning an outfit for any wedding is stressful enough but i really don't know what size i will be or whether i will need maternity clothes? and leaving the shopping for an outfit until the last week may be a little stressful!!!!!
Any suggestions or advice?
When did you all start showing? and is it my imagination or is my waistline already thicker?!!! I have stopped needing a belt on my trousers and with all the nausea and morning sickness i have actually lost weight so bit strange.
Any help appreciated! Thank you in advance.

I didnt start to show until about 20-25 weeks pregnant and at about that time i had to start investing in maternity clothing...you would probably be safer with planning a maternity outfit because they leave room for growth so it would be a safer route to take!

The "bloat" you are feeling now is completely normal! Your body knows that morning sickness is an issue, so your digestive system slows down, ALOT! :) So your bowels are very dilated and moving things along at a very slow pace, it gives it more time to absorb the vitamins and nutrients from the food you can eat.

As for when you start showing.... When I was pregnant with my son (my first child) I was in maternity clothes at 8 weeks. To be honest it was because of being bloated. I could fit into my regular pants in the morning, but come evening they were cutting into me. I am pregnant with my second child now (10 weeks 6 days) and was in maternity clothes at 8 weeks again. I am showing already, people who didn't even know I was pregnant can tell. I think I looked pregnant to everyone else at about 15 weeks last time. (I forgot to tell you that I am the same size as you.)

Ok now for the dress. I would go try on a few maternity dresses now. If you can find one that fits good now, and maybe stretches, that would probably be a good choice. I couldn't wear maternity dresses until much later (about 20 weeks). My other suggestion is find a regular dress with an empire waistline. That usually works out pretty good and will give a little room for much needed expansion.

I hope you can find something you really like and that fits you well. Congrats!

Honey, I feel for you. I was a bridemaid in two weddings while I was pregnant. One was three weeks before my due date! Try planning for that one. Anyway, I started showing about about 3 months, but it just looked like a small, firm beer gut. However, my mom was in maternity clothes at 4 or 5 weeks!! But then she didn't gain anything in the third trimester. All women are different. I would just try to go a little big on the dress, and find a good tailor to have it taken in a few days before. Talk to them and let them know what you're planning to do and give them some warning so they don't get ticked and say "this crazy lady wants this done last minute". I always found it best to say, "I know this may be a bit of an imposition, but..." Then tell them the situation and ask them, don't demand. I'm sure this won't be the first time a tailor has seen that situation, especially if you go to a female one. Good luck! (with the pregnancy and clothes)

I am 2 months and i'm starting to wear maternity clothes already. I go for comfort more than anything. I also have terribel morning sickness and have lost weight but you feel like you have gained because of all the bloating that is happening. I know some don't buy maternity clothes til 4 months but I am now because comfort is so important and the baby needs room to grow. I would get something in maternity so you can be comfortable and have fun throughout the night and not regretting the tight outfit you bought. everyone's different. good luck

everybody is different, my wife was a size 10 before she fell pregnant but now at 36wks she is a size 12-14. Your still only in ealry stages of your pregnancy and so it wont be easy to tell how your gonna look in 9weeks time, as some people get a bump quite quick while others dont. I would wait and see how things go for the next 4wks and kepp an eye on your measurements then take it from there. Or look for a meternity outfit as then you will just buy usual size and wil have no problems with it fitting. My wife says next, new look, topshop and dorothy perkins do some nice maternity things. Good luck

I was six months before you could tell. At five months I looked like i had put on a few pounds but did not look pregnant. The last four weeks of my pregnancy was the only time i needed maternity clothes. But I was only a UK size 8 small frame to start with. One week after the baby was born I was back in my size 8 jeans. After running round after the baby now size 6.

But a lot of people put on lots of weight - it is difficult to predict because everyone is different. Guess I was just lucky.

I was the same dress size as you and din't really show until about 5 months although my stomach did go hard and I found trousers uncomfy. You do go through a few weeks of your normal clothes not fitting andmaternity being to big so get trackie bottoms for those times!! Asf or the wedding I would get a pair of elasticated trousers and a floaty top.

I started showing with my first child by about the 6th-8th week. You can buy a dress that has some stretch to it, loads of maternity clothes have lycra and will give as you grow. Buy a maternity dress now that has some give to the fabric is my vote. Have fun at the wedding!
