Not necessarily. If the babies are far apart, the parents probably need a lot of the supplies again. There are some people that didn't get a shower for the first baby. Plus, a shower is a celebration for the baby on the way. I don't think we should limit showers to the first child.

Ok, here is my opinion on this, at least how I handled my shower. If it is your second or more baby but you want to have a shower, invite people to come "celebrate the upcoming birth of your new baby". Make gift giving optional. It was my first and there still were people who did not give gifts. But we had a great time and it was very special. And some people gave gifts before and after the baby was born. People are weird that way.

I have heard that Befor But I dont Think You should only Be able to Have one..Expecially if you have a Little Girl first and then The next One is a Little Boy You really have nothing for that baby And if you have them far apart And if your lucky and they are both the same sex you Most Likely Got rid of everything from the last baby..I think its completly fine to have another baby shower for baby Number 2..

Some people have a shower for each baby. I personally wouldn't. But I understand if it were a couple that got married and are expecting their first baby together after they already had one with a previous partner. And sometimes if one family lives a long way away maybe having a shower in 2 locations is a good idea.

No! We always give a shower for my friends, whether it's the first or the fifth. Even if the soon to be mom has baby stuff it's still fun to get more or something little for baby & mom. I don't think it's a problem, but one should never request a baby shower for themselves. Hopefully friends and family are just nice enough to throw one!

Yes, generally they are only for the first baby. After the first baby you have all the equipment. There are exceptions though. My sister had her two children 10 years apart, so I had a shower for her 2nd one, since she had long given everything away.

I disagree. When I had my second daughter, my sister in law had a shower for me. She said in the invitation that gifts weren't necessary, and that she just wanted friends and family to get together to fellowship. However, they all brought gifts anyway. Just little things like diapers and pacifiers, and such. It's not about expecting brand new gifts, but about having those closest to you helping in the celebration of the newest addition to your family. Then suppose you have a child of one sex, then the next baby is of the other sex? People love having showers.

I have a 19 month old and I didn't have one the first time around and my fiance's parents want to throw us a baby shower and I'm not letting them because I don't feel it's right. We have a daughter and we know what we need. We decided to have another baby so we should shoulder the bulk of the responsibility and if everybody wants to bring us gifts then that's fine but I think having a baby shower with a second baby is kind of tacky.

No not really. If someone wants to give you a shower for the following pregnacies then go for it. I am pregnant with number 2 and I be having two showers for this baby. One from my in-laws and one from my mother. That is all fine with me as long as they are willing to give it. Good luck!

technically yes, but ive known lots of people that have had one with each child. Especailly if there has been more then a few years between kids.
I personally only had one with my first, not because thats all i wanted but my family always stuck to the one baby shower only rule, which stinks..lol
