They both speak English with the same kind of accent. Hindu or muslim, if it sounds like a duck, it is a duck.
Besides that, most Americans are notoriously ignorant of things outside of their own sphere of vision.

India and pakistan were one country until the monstorous partition. Hindi and Urdu are almost the same language. Pakistanis and Indians are ethnically the same. The thing that separates them is the false paradigm of religion. So many lives so much money wasted over something so stupid.
Think about what both countries or a unified country could have done with all the resources they squandered on military equipment and their mad quest for nuclear weapons.

Ignorance including Indian and Pakistani. As someone said, India and Pakistan used to be one country. Now it is India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and the disputed Kashmir Region. Its territory consists of over 300 ethnic groups and languages. Of all things, why did they divide along religious lines. Why not unite along the common thread of being a former British colony, united by a new tradition, Rule of Law, and a new language, English, which they still use. Why channel our tendancies toward tribalism along religious lines.
By the way, don't link them together but I wish I could because they have many more things in common than what separates them.

Ethnically, culturistically and linguistically, Indians and Pakistanis are almost the same. At the time of Partition, Lord Mountbatten left Kashmir as disputed territory for both countries to fight over. When Indians and Pakistanis meet in other countries, they usually become the best of friends.

India and Pakistan used to be one country and come from the same origins. They only differ in religion. Even their languages, Urdu and Hindu, are two ends of a linguistic spectrum called Hindustani.
It is wrong to insult them by the pejorative term, "pakis".

Indians and Pakistanis are brown-skinned,their accents match because of the urdu-hindi links.besides most people dont care to see whether somebody is an Indian or a Pakistani when they are shouting insults at brown-skinned people.
After the 9/11 incident there is basic distrust of asians all over the world...most people dont have the basic maturity to see that they are innocents working their backs off to support their families in Asia.narrow minded racism exists everywhere...

English is a Formal Language in both countries...
Both were planned against by External forces...

For the same reason people see a Hispanic person and assume they are Mexican or an Asian and assume they are Chinese. IGNORANCE.
Sorry my friend, you live in US and there are so many ignorant people, it's unbelievable. The more you go mid-west the worse it gets.
Fortunately, most ignorant folks are old and soon will leave this earth and hopefully take their ignorance with them. But until we teach our children respect and appreciate different cultures, we will have this problem. Start with yourself, with your children.

Ignorance. But they used to be one country and also they are now right next to one another so it is hard to tell them apart in some cases.
