richard, if I count correctly, 'pneumonoultramicroscopic- silicovolcanoconiosis' has only 9 different consonants (not 11)

A few words have 10 different consonants. The shortest is 'uncopyrightables' (16 letters, 10 consonants, all different), if you consider that to be a 'word'. Otherwise, you have to go all the way up to 'radioimmunoelectrophoresis' (26 letters, 10 different consonants: r d m n l c t p h s).

The longest word in the English language -- pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis -- has 45 letters, 25 of them consonants, and 11 different consonants at that.

I'm not sure but the word "strengths" is the longest I have found with only a single vowel
