I hear people ask when a show is going to be on there and I just wondered where this "network" serviced.

Factually that answer is incorrect
Sky one can be found on SKY its a satilite system, where by viewers recieve signal from the sat and decoded via a reciever box.
SKY 1 is also availiable on Telwest and NTL cable which is the same as the UK cable System
