At the risk of waxing serious, its better to do the right thing for the right reason. But in the interest of actually answering your question -- wrong thing, right reason. At least that way I know I did the best I knew how. I can sleep with myself at night.

well, doing right thing for wrong reasons, and may this reasons seems to be wrong but till you do the right action , its almost right! I think reasons are leading for actions .

if the reason is right how can the thing be wrong?
what i mean is how can you do the wrong thing for the rigth reason...if the reason is right doesn't that make the whole situation the right one to do...

It can't matter two hoots what the reasons are if the act is the right one, but doing the wrong thing is always going to do some harm to someone, however noble and self-satisfied the doer may be - so there!
