My name is Yasmin, and when people sya it most of the time they say Yaz/ mean instead of Yaz/min. Why does it really matter if you have the e at the end or not. (I dont apparently) Why is the pronucation different if you add a z instead of a s? Why do people think my name is Yaz/mean instead of prounuced as its looks?

Which prounacation sounds better?

For your daughters name, first off I love it. I like it better as Pree-uh though.

I personally have always pronounced your name the way it looks --> YAS-min. But I guess some people pronounce it the other way?? My daughter's name is Priya, pronounced PREE-uh, but people try to pronounce it PRY-uh. If I spelled it Pria (which is also a valid spelling) they would have no problem saying it correctly. If I am unsure of a pronunciation I just simply ask.

I would say Yaz-min. It would never cross my mind to say Yaz-mean with that spelling. I guess when you have a name that could be "ethnic" people what to say the right thing, and probably think you'd prefer the Y-mean pronunciation.

My sister's name is Yazmin (Jasmine) We are Spanish so the Y has a J sound. I think some people have a problem with ethnic looking names. They call her Yasmean all the time and it makes no sense! lol Its a gorgeous name though
