How does that work with "your body, your choice?" It's very confusing to me.

If my wife might regret her decision in a few years, why is that not the same for the abortion? Many women regret that decision, but it's legal. This is such a double-standard issue!

Right. How can a doctor tell you what's "right" for your wife, if she wants to get her tubes tied that's ultimately her decision. These doctors kill me, they don't want you to tie your tubes (because that means less money for deliveries), but then when these unwanted children are born into the world they don't want the responsibility of helping take care of the child either. I think women should be applauded for taking control of their bodies and making choices that are going to better their lives.

It is very common that a young wife may re-marry or become a widower. The doctor is doing the right thing by allowing time to think carefully on a permanent decision. A friend of mine at age 23 got her tubes tied. She didn't take a NO for an answer and insisted that if that doctor didn't do the sterilization than she was going to look for one who was willing to do it. As far as a 14 year old, we are talking about a baby (emotionally) having another baby, so it is very different situation.

Another option is for you to have a vasectomy done on you. Males recover much faster and the surgery is less intrusive.

I had my tubes tied at 24 but i had also got at the time 3 children and was married for 4 years. They are very reluntant to give tubal ligation on people so young unless there is a medical reason why another pregnancy could cause complications for the mother or child.I totally wish i hadnt had it done because you never know whats going to happen in the future,i.e.my hubby left me after 10 years with 3 children, i met knew partner and he didnt have any children . but now at 32 looks very unlikely that i will be able to get it reversed. As for the 14 year old that is society today isnt it and its very hard to way one situation against another . If your wife is really set on having the procedure and you are also happy with it as well then speak to her doctor again who may refer her to her specialist ,but you have to be 100% sure that its the right thing to do .GOOD LUCK

I didn't know that it was illegal for a woman at any age to get her tubes tied. But a tubal is forever and most women (if you can call a 14 year old a woman) can still conceive after an abortion. Some women make this decision to quickly and later regret it and wish they could have another baby.

unlawful as a lot as now him? No. To have sex with him? certain. Frowned upon by technique of society? certain. you want to tread heavily right here, although. that's no longer really heard of for a 24 3 hundred and sixty 5 days previous to wish as a lot as now a 14 3 hundred and sixty 5 days previous, with authentic and innocuous intentions, besides. i'm no longer declaring that he's a pervert or some thing, perhaps that is love. yet you want to be very careful. Wait till you're 16 earlier you do some thing sexual with him. If he's prepared to watch for you, then that earns him brownie factors. also, in case you do some thing sexual earlier you turn 16, then he might want to honestly bypass to penal complex and be placed on a sex offenders record, and really develop into unemployable. might want to you want that to happen to him? merely that's mandatory to be careful, and continuously enable someone recognize once you'll see him. and notwithstanding it would no longer appear like a strong concept, enable your mothers and fathers recognize. And enable them meet him and strengthen conscious of him. it would want to take a lengthy time period, they could be indignant and disillusioned before each and every thing, yet in the adventure that they could see that you 2 are for authentic then you surely 2 have extra effective possibilities of creating it. yet keep in innovations, be careful. I actually wish on your sake that he's not a creep, notwithstanding the prospect is continuously there, inspite of adult males your own age, notwithstanding that is a lot extra probable with an age huge difference like yours. Sorry, yet that is only a actuality. I want you the finest of success =) wish I helped =)

Hello,
I agree 100 % percent at this question / statement.
It just isn't fair!
Now I'm from Canada and some doctors will perform a tabulation on your wife. If she is UN certain about more children to follow in her life time ask to have those tubs clamped or just tied. (Not the cut, burn then tied)

I know many ladies who have had this operation with children and with zero children.

Good Luck Sandra

i dont' think its "illegal" i think that doctors try to suggest other options at a young age because of the fact that well, shes 24. Is there a reason why she wants her tubes tied? or just so she doesn't get pregnant? If thats the case there are other options. having tubes undone is not always an option and niether is a vasectomy.

if you really love your wife then get a vasectomy. Much cheaper and MUCH less invasive than tubal litigation. My hubby had a vasectomy last year and it really wasn't that bad, they don't even cut anymore, it's a teeny puncture, your balls will swell a little and it will be uncomfortable but way better than what your wife will have to go through . . . .think about it, it really is the better choice. My sis had her tubes tied and now her periods are way more painful and emotional- plz don't put your wife through this.

Boy, are you right. I agree with that whole heartedly. When I had my kids and asked about that, they told me they don't want to do this procedure on a fertile young woman, because it is basically irreversible and she may change her mind, years down the road. I'm certain that you could find a doctor to perform the procedure if your wife can convince him otherwise. Have you considered a vasectomy? It is much easier for a man to undergo and probably doesn't have as much opposition.
