LISTEN to the customer, apologize for the mistake, and try to make it right. The first step towards customer complaints is always try to understand what the customer is complaining about and never TALK to the customer without a smile on your face.

Think about it when you have a complaint at another store??? The manager will
Listen to you
Apologize to you
Make sure he Understands you
Apologize again for the problem
Refund/Resolve/Replace the problem

I worked at Kroger, and I simply just appologized for the stores

- high prices
- poor selection
- uncleanliness
- rancid produce

and told them that Kroger blows and they should probably shop somewhere else.

This probably isnt too advisable if you want to keep your job. I actually didnt care about mine, and one day, I told a customer that asked me why I didnt smile, "Look at me, I have a college degree and Im a cashier at a grocery store, why should I be smiling?". I ended up quitting after the manager threatened my job over that.

If you like your job, Id just apologize and refer them to a manager, or the supervisor of whatever department they have complaint with. There is also a customer service desk in every Kroger Ive ever been in, you can send them there.

Ah, grocery store customers...

If it's a legit complaint, try to rectify it. If you can't, refer them to the person who can. If they're stupid ones (i.e. there's a grape on the floor...yes, I had someone say that to me once) go, or send someone to see what they're complaining about, and if it's worth fixing, do it (pick up the grape, tape the sign back up, ect.)

Thank God I'm done with cashiering...worst year and a half of my working life! Good luck to you though.

in simple terms be well mannered and direct with the shoppers, and approximately 50% honest. (you do no longer must be honest approximately issues that could embarass your enterprise-make up something inocuous and possible.) do no longer permit a shopper income from you, or rip you off. If somebody lies approximately how many beverages they have had, they are the two a jerk or they are too inebriated to keep in mind. do no longer permit it circulate, however-you need to lose your interest! in case you need to, clarify to them-"hi, i might choose to furnish you your beverages for loose, yet i might lose my interest! till you have a greater helpful interest furnish for me, i'll ought to fee you!" Make incredibly a comedian tale approximately it, so the shopper feels accountable approximately ripping you off, yet isn't embarassed. If the waiter (or you) make a mistake, blame somebody else. that's often greater helpful accountable somebody who the shopper can no longer see, than the guy with whom the shopper is dealing. till that's something small. Then, in simple terms say, "i'm sorry, I tousled your order. i will restoration it suitable away-can i furnish you a loose drink/appetizer?" often times, honesty could be a solid concern. you need to choose each situation, however. If there is something incorrect this is previous your administration, like being out of inventory, or the ceremonial dinner workforce is inflicting a postpone, clarify the situation, act sympathetic, and assure the shopper that your supervisor will pay attention appropriate to the situation-and it won't ensue back!
