blocked drain, the manhole cover i need to lift is very heavy,it has a metal handle and i need something to lift this, i am trying to find in uk a manhole hook type lifter with no luck, anyone know where i can get one or any advice please.

You should be able to buy manholes keys from a builders merchant, or a plumbers merchant

any good diy store ( just use a garden spade , wiggle down between the cover and frame lift slightly , then slide something under to keep it there ) do the same the opposite side , then push aside

Your best bet is to go to your local plant and tool hire shop and hire a hydraulic inspection cover lifter. this will save you breaking or straining your back.

travis perkins plumb centre b&q dont use spade or crow bar if you value fingers have you tried typing with your nose right tool for job
