Oakland Raiders have had tremendous success with young coaches in the NFL. But had problems with older coaches or retread.
Young Hires
1. John Madden
2. Tom Flores
3. Mike Shannan
4. Jon Gruden.
Old Hires

Al Davis does give young coaches a opportunity, hopefully Lane Kiffin does great. Lane Kiffin has done a great job at USC. USC run a pro-set offense. I know, he will put a long hours and will give 100% and he has very intelligent football mind. He is improvement over Art Shell. Art downfall was hiring a offensive coordinator that was running a bed & breakfast inn for six years. And it show in the offense. He was also stuck in old ways---Randy Moss & Jerry Porter both great receivers--no production under his reign.

Yes. He did after he left Oakland. Kiffin got what he deserved. He wanted to take over the Organization instead of coaching the team. 12-4 with Tom Cable. which by the way knocked out Kiffins dad from the NFL

Kiffin has his father to thank for his success, as his name got his career rolling. Not to say that he will be ineffective, but I strongly suggest that he will not be the resoultion to this debacle of the Raiders organization. Going from college, to pro ranks is a huge transition, and it has been evident that success is a small percentage. Look at Nick Saban, Steve Spurrier, great college coaches but no success in the NFL, and these guys were top echelon college rank coaches. Lane Kiffin is only an assistant coach at USC and has a tough task, and I think the Raiders will still be a 5-6 win team.

It certainly can't be any worse. Lane is a young, movitvated, bright offensive minded coach. I think he will turn the organization around very soon to the surprise of many.
