I have 5 scars.
2 on my chest and 2 on my back and 1 that goes around my right wrist where my hand was almost cut off.
I got them when a group of white youths stabbed me for stopping them attacking a little black boy.
I am white and was ashamed of that colour for a long time until I found out that the attack wasn't racial, it was school bullying.
The boy wouldn't hand over his lunch so they beat him up.
I would do this all again because people need people to help.
We ALL say stop and it will stop!
The only time I would cross the road would be if the bullying was on that side.

One time I saw a mom in a store verbally abusing her daughter, who was about 10. She told her she was stupid and a bunch of other mean things. I walked up to the girl, told her she should never believe that she is stupid and no one has the right to talk to her that way. I said nothing to the mother. They were speechless. Then a few minutes later, still in the same store, the girl came over and cussed me out.
That's not the only time I stood up to a bully for someone else. But I had to realize the best way to beat a bully is to do it anonymously. Reporting a bully to the right authority is the best way to go. I won't confront them if I can avoid it. Confrontation is OK if you have 2 rational people to work out a conflict but bullies are far from rational.

On the surface, yes. However, there is some gray area. First of all, what is their motive for giving to charity and helping people? Were they doing it simply to help, or were they doing it to be praised by others? Basically, were they being like the hypocrites Jesus talked about in the Bible that blow horns and seek public attention whenever they give to charity? Since I am Catholic, I will answer based on what I was taught over the years by reliable priests and religious. I am basically an old school Catholic. Therefore, I will not take into consideration what some of the lousy priests told me over the years. Yes, I knew a few awful priests that were theologically lacking. The Catholic Church teaches about states of grace and different graces you receive from God in your life. The way I was taught is if God revealed Himself into the heart of an atheist (or member of another faith) that the Catholic faith was the true faith of Jesus Christ, and that atheist rejects Him, than his chances of going to hell are much greater. However, if a nonbeliever truly desires and seeks God, but honestly believed that he never found Him in this life, than I was taught that person could possibly have received another type of grace from God that would preserve him from hell. I was also taught that the Catholic Church has never proclaimed that any particular soul is in hell, not even Judas. The other thing you are not considering is when does the soul leave the body? None of us knows for sure. Consider the possibility that God may reveal Himself to the one that just died who was seeking God during life on earth. Perhaps it is at that moment of death that this person chooses based on what is in his heart at the time of death. I hope this helps out.

Yep, bullies are cowards.
What kind of society would we have, if we all crossed over the road?
Sorry, that's kind of answering a question with a question.
I just can't break the habit!

most definetly. The world today turns to many blind eyes. i watch as my fellow neighbors watch and do nothing. when i see something happening to hurt or embarrass another person i kind of put myself in the situation. This may not always be the smart thing to do, but i do hope that somebody would at least step in long enough to ask the question "is everything okay".

I'd like to say I'd stand up to them but I saw a woman going mental at her daughter, throwing her about the shop, in town a year or so ago and I bottled it....she was about 6ft tall, 20stone and looked like Mike Tyson...I went and whispered to an assistant.....well there's more than one way to skin a cat isn't there?
