A lot of times I see answers on here and wonder if the people actually believe what they are typing or are just trying to get points. I stick to topics I have an interest in and only answer questions when I think I can help the person and am sure of the answer. Some questions ask for an opinion and I give my opinion based on my experiences, not on hearsay. I guess that's why I have a 36% best answer rating (last time I checked). If you stay with subjects you know about, you will continue to get best answers and you can share your knowledge with others.

You're right. However stupid questions deserve an ironic or sarcastic answer (ex. what was Rembrandt's first name?).
Also I try to avoid doing kid's homework, so if I detect or suspect such a question I would not answer it.
