Yes because the slaves' wages were more or less to nothing, so Britain industrialized quite easily.

I would think the slave trade was much more important to Britain's colonies than actually to Britain itself. In almost every colony Britain made the natives slaves while reaping/raping the countryside and profiteering from the bounty.
