You need to install a Graphics card
Physical memory generally shared (as Vedio RAM) by Graphics chips in motherboard. you may control it in BIOS.
better to install a AGP Card or GPU unit in motherboard

You can increase RAM performance via virtual RAM, but you can't increase the actual RAM without installing more. Your performance would likely be terrible if you could even get the application to work. The missing RAM is likely corrupted sectors, bad bits of memory space that can no longer be used (or recognized by your system properties).

I do agree with Gitix, your computer is using your physical RAM (Share it with your Graphic memory), The only way for you to do it is by adding the physical RAM, however in some case, you can still install the software and the only things is your notice is that your pc may responding slowly or lagging.

Have you heard about bad sectors in Hard disk? When some portions or Hard disk become unusable, they are called like that. Similarly your RAM may have got affected in some areas and so the size is less.
Better install another 256 MB RAM physically, coz almost all the application coming now-a-days require much RAM.

hi,
this is karthik, and i came across your question regarding increasing the ram without actually instlling it.
I came to know that you have 256 MB of ram but in system properties it shows 224 Mb . One reason might be that in many systems the ram would be shared with the vedio adapter and say you have 512 MB of ram it shows somewhere near to 350 mb or 400 and remaining would be the shared memory by the vedio adapter and also the system board for processing the requests of the components inside the system board.
Thus to increase the ram without actually instlling it physically would be to increase the virtual memory of the system and it would be managed by windows by default.
But you can change the amount of virtual memory you want windows to use on your system and it also depends on applications and games instlled on the system.
So what i could suggest is that you can increase the virtual memory and steps would be as below
1) click on start and right click on mycomputer and properties
2)select advanced option and click on performance options and click on advanced and there you have a option to make the virtual memory managed by windows or you can change it by clicking on custom size and go for the appropriate option
Try these steps and let me know
bye

not in any respect. you won't be able to apply DDR3 as your motherboard helps DDR2 RAM. in case you want to position in DDR3, then you surely will want new motherboard which help DDR3. All new MB helps DDR3. Will u change ur Motherboard merely to get a DDR3 ? instead of that get 2 extra RAM put in. yet be effective u get the recent RAM which precisely reminiscent of ur previous RAM in case of specs (also from an same agency if conceivable) or ur computer will be in difficulty. U suggested ur RAM as ' DDR2 form with 2x2 ' whch ability its already operating on twin channel mode that is a sturdy component if speed is considered. keep in innovations if u set up merely one extra RAM (then ur computer has finished 3 RAM) then it is going to lower back run in unmarried channel. So set up 2 extra RAM then it is going to proceed to run in twin channel mode. learn about twin channel from less than link.

Hi..
the remaining RAM which is missing(32 MB) is shared by display.. if it is external one.. I mean external display card then you can remove it and can go for dedicated memory display card..
If it is onboard then.. u'll not have much option otherthan increasing the RAM..
some motherboards support disabling the onboard display card by setting the jumper on the motherboard or with the help of CMOS setup.. check it out..

Do you have a mac? Then go to the control panels, click on virtual memory and increase it. And by the way, that is extremely little ram, like the caveman days.

Nope, you will have to install more RAM Physically. Your "missing" RAM is probably your video memory.
